Greetings Elsie United Methodist Church,

My name is Gerrad Leitelt and will be your new pastor beginning July 1. A little bit about myself, I grew up in Montrose, and attended Saginaw Valley State University. That is where I met my wife Misti. After getting married we spent a brief time in Howell before moving to Perry where we have lived in the same house for 25 years. We have two daughters: Olivia 22, and Zenna 20. I have been an employee at Koegel Meats for 28 years and Misti has been a special education teacher for 25 years and is currently at Fowlerville.

I have been a member of the United Methodist church my whole life. I have done everything from chairman of the SPRC to youth group leader. At my home church Faith Community, I served as a trustee, missions, led a small group, Sunday School teacher, and was communion steward. My passions in ministry are discipleship, missions, and pastoral care.

This is my first appointment. I am what is called a DSA - District Superintendent Appointment. I have not yet taken any classes for ministry, I have taken lay leader classes. So this means I am not qualified to do the sacraments, such as communion. Pastor Randy Hitts from Faith Community will bless the elements the first week of the month while they do their communion. We will then take communion the second week. By the end of November I would have finished some courses and will be able to serve communion by December. I am excited for this new opportunity and the challenges it will bring. I can’t wait to help grow the kingdom of God in Elsie and its surrounding area.
